If you actually look at WHO's own data, it states, quite plainly, that they only have good data for 39 countries. That's why the other countries are omitted from the data set.

Which is what I argued first. No good data, no argument.

Oh, look here, suicide rates going down in USA, Japan, China, going up in Mexico, India, and Brazil.

Damned insidious, that consumerism.

ST and CB,

What exactly was the point of this conversation?

I am not trying to be an elitist, but CB you are a lawyer. ST appears to be a very well read person with at least a couple of degree's in some Liberal Arts discipline.

Neither of you appear to have any sense of mathematics or statistics. ST doesn't even deliver his data in any particular order.

Point a couple of us engineers at the raw data and we can analyze it for you!

What do we need? Suicide rates and the factor your comparing it to (industrialization? TV's per household? Internet use? Per Capita Income?).

BTW - My statistics Prof in University always started us on these endevours by reminding us that the correlation between steel production in England from 1900-1910 and the live birth rate in Venezuala for the same period was almost 100% :-)

Since we know there is a high correlation between the weather and suicide (did I mention my first degree was in Psychology) have you factored your data for sunshine?

John
