I don't think you're looking at the statistics at all. I also don't think you understand epidemiology, especially with respect to reporting stigmatic events like rape and suicide. A very careful person wouldn't make the very broad, general assertions you make.

This is the way careful people talk - a report on suicide rates in Iran. I googled it because I thought that WHO's statistics on suicide rates in Iran seemed questionable - and they are.

Getting good data out of some governments is impossible. They doctor the statistics to make themselves look good.

But slinging around arguments like "suicide is more common in consumeristic nations than in non-developed nations except for ones that are in upheaval" is meaningless.
