O/T...I'll tell you what, if you haven't already, you should read some Ambrose books about WWII...Citizen Soldiers, or "Band of Brothers"...stuff like that...

Man, friendly fire is soooo deadly, and it happens ALL the time. A combat war zone is so inherently dangerous, NO ONE is safe from any kind of fire, snipers, or just plain old freak accidents. Lots of people just get killed by vehicles, guns going off that are not on safety, etc. It is a brutal brutal place from everything I've read and heard from veterans who've been there....and it's easy to get killed or seriously injured in an instant.

I'm not directing this at you Dave, but most of the jerk offs who glorify and sensationalize killing and war have never been there, or taken the time to talk with or read about people who have. I have never ever looked in the eyes of a combat veteran and had them tell me it was anything but bad....and i've looked in a lot.

I saw some journalists last night wearing flak jackets
with "PRESS" on it in a clip from the hotel story

Even though they're seeking a fleeting chance to write drama as it evolves or take prize winning photographs, I certainly wouldn't be over there if I were a journalist, regardless if I was in a supposed safe building. Much riskier than the market, to say the least.

The military "says it was "unfortunate" that the buildings were being used by journalists." It appears equally unfortunate that our soldiers shot at it.
