Dave > Is this an illusion? Jailed Iraqi children run free as marines roll into Baghdad suburbs

Looks pretty authentic to me.

Please understand that, although I disagree vehemently with what the US has done, I'm not trying to defend the tyranny of the Baathist regime. I accept that there were many things done by them which were wrong. But that's in my eyes, and who am I to judge?

However, I am also aware that South African children (of military age) who refused to do military training were also incarcerated. I know that people in Israel who refuse military call-up also have to go to jail and I presume the same would hold in the US during times of conscription.

Let's not play around --- the situation in Iraq was/is very serious and the regime knew that an attack by the US was inevitable. In fact, the military response now shows clearly that they had been preparing for a long time. Whatever one may think of or have heard about the regime, I have to say that the Iraqis are fighting incredibly bravely against a vastly superior force. They are certainly not cowards. In fact, I would say if it were not for the US airpower, the situation could have been very different.
