I would hate living under Saddam. I'm sure the many of the Iraqis did too. But, some of them lived the good life under him as well or he wouldn't have stayed in power so long. Saddam was supported by Western conservative interests for years, before he invaded Kuwait. Don't forget it was Mr. Republican himself, Bob Dole, who visited Saddam on a friendly visit in 1990, shortly before he invaded Kuwait. I don't think liberals have a fetish of Saddam. It's just that liberals aren't buying the government propaganda and know that we support regmines just as repressive and brutal as Saddam and would like to see some consistency in our foreign policy. Not, just cowboy diplomacy to oust dictators when it serves our purposes.
