Moominoid,

The chairman of my department called me "deranged"

Far be it from the good folks on this thread to dispute the wit and wisdom of your superiors... <g>

Henceforth, the "intelligensia" of this thread shall regard you as deranged. Thread members, please do not antagonize Moominoid until after he has taken his meds... <vbg>

The mere idea of government leaders not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth... Balderdash... Blasphemous... Poppycock!!! <tongue-in-cheek>

KJC

>>I read somewhere recently (I think in an NYT article on Rupert Murdoch yesterday) that the US public
prefers the news to be patriotic rather than accurate. Hence Fox, CNN etc. spin in that direction... >>

I quit watching that stuff a couple of years ago, and whenever I accidently come across it, it's much more shockingly obvious what they're up to than if you are numbed by the daily dose. Still trying to decide if it's worse than Reality TV, heh heh.

I often refer to the dopey masses, but maybe brainwashed would be a better term. Hence my conviction that the consolidation of ownership of mass media under the umbrella of a few, similarly motivated giants is perhaps even more dangerous than Ashcroft, or Poindexter with his Big Brother uber-database.

Something about how those who are kidnapped by terrorists come to identify with their captors - perhaps it will one day merge into one huge, homogenous media portal called the Stockholm Syndrome Network.

Meanwhile, I'll stick with the unconventional outlets, and try my best to separate the perspicacious from the paranoid. <g>
