I agree. A more peaceful world is good for a lot of reasons, like commerce and security, and is definitely a policy the international community via the UN should persue. Ending the Congo war would certainly make the UN look good. However, there are certain people that have a vested interest in seeing the world remain at constant war. Fortunes are made by arms dealers from the constant fighting that engulfs our world. Sometimes they even sell arms to both sides. They rarely are concerned with which side has an advantage, it's just a business to them. Sad, but true.
