Hi Robert, Saturn, etc. GDP's of a couple Asian (China, HK, etc.) countries lowered this week due to SARs. (Forgot which analysts & which country the report came from.)

I wonder how deep INTC is dependent upon Asian countries. I wonder if the negatives (war, sars) will over power the upgrade cycle. Probably.

Capital spending seemed to get conservative last month.

But I know one friend whose business is suddenly booming: life insurance.

Regards,
Amy J

I insist that Tim's intercept provided information which was not available to us. Unfortunately some pieces of that info was Russian wishful thinking, just as some of the US media info was Pentagon/US reporter wishful thinking. Just because some pieces are incorrect, we cannot throw away the entire package. That way you would not turn on the TV or read any newspaper.

Ref - <U.S. forces were moving "at will" within and around Baghdad >

That was an obvious exhageration ! US Forces were moving at will through selected locations, where we could exploit our advantage in armor and airpower. We prudently did not enter congested and narrow streets in residential areas with foot patrols, because our casualties would have been heavy. Even now we have not gone to the site of the Saddam airstrike, despite the fact that we are all "dying" to find out what happened there.

The "at will" statement was meant to taunt the enemy. These taunts are meant to make the enemy come out and fight on ground where the advantage rests with us, and not with the enemy. Taking Saddam's palace and talk of GI's taking a shower in his bathtub, would enrage him and make him do something stupid. Maybe that made him order suicidal attacks, and made him careless in using his wireless communications, exposing his location, resulting in the airstrike.
