Philip Morris may not have to post $12 bln bond-report (MO) By Allen Wan
Philip Morris USA (MO) may not have to post a $12 billion bond before appealing a record verdict in a class-action lawsuit, the Associated Press
reported. The judge who last month issued a record $10.1 billion verdict against the tobacco giant for allegedly tricking smokers over the dangers of
'light' cigarettes and had given it until April 21 to post the $12 billion bond said he believes a compromise is possible. Philip Morris has said that it
could not post the bond amid payoffs for another $206 billion settlement back in 1998. 5:15am 04/09/03
