actually BC, in the OLD days bonds and stocks did not necessarily track. the inflationary 1970s and dis-inflationary 1980s-1990s are actually the historical outlier wrt the LONG-term interaction between stocks and bonds; i.e. today is more normal in a very long-term sense.
