Excellent post.

I agree with your pov, but we need a fifth group. Those who hate the U.S. and truly want the U.S. to lose. Generally these folks live outside the U.S. and see more evil in a misfired U.S. missile than in purposely gassing 30,000 innocent citizens. These are enemies of the state.

OK, my turn:

Group 1: I have no respect for them. I know this is seriously politically correct, but these people are leeches on the likes of Jessica Lynch and depend on her to defend their "right" to be cowards. Without such as her, they would be slaves or dead. Remember Czarist Russia, where if you were drafted, you had 2 choices: serve or be shot.

Group 2: Blind. Complicit in Saddam's murders.

Group 3: There are 2 subgroups here, I think: the ignorant and the stupid. I agree about the ignorant. The stupid are intellectually incapable of understanding the arguments. They get a pass, the same as the mentally sign a valid contract. There appear to be a number of these on the thread.

Group 4: These people, IMO, are unamerican and unpatriotic. While these actions may not rise to the level of treason, their efforts do provide aid and comfort to the enemy. They provide a reason for the regime in Baghdad to hope they may influence the outcome of the war by indicating that public opinion might force the Administration to abandon the decision which has been taken and which is supported by more than 70% of the American public. As if the actions of this group in support of our enemy are not bad enough, this group denigrates the support of the American public for the Administration by various methods such as questioning the intelligence and critical thinking of those who are supportive.
Fair call.

Bill's Group 5: They are not all foreigners or overseas, as Bill points out. We have numerous examples of anti-Americans who are so soured by their own miserable failure in this, overall the best country in the world, in this thread. They deserve no hearing or consideration. They need to get some spunk, get of their butts, get to work and make something of themselves and their lives.

Then there are those who argue that Iraq was a sovereign nation and no matter what was going in inside, the borders of a sovereign nation are sacred.

I think the biggest group were those who were terrified of the Moslem world and sick with fear over what they'd do to us if we attacked Iraq. This group was very creative coming up with arguments against war.

Your groupings I view as subgroups of two larger categories. The Ghandi crowd, which may comprise .0000001%, and the GWB haters, which your groups 2,3 & 4 all fall into.

People in this second group are fundamentally dishonest and have placed personal political motives over the merits of the issue and the security of our nation. When Clinton bombed Kosovo and Iraq in the latter years of his term, this second group was absolutely silent or supported Clinton.

Yes these people who are Americans are un-American and un-patriotic.
