Bush going AWOL is well-known, well-documented.

Let me just say......if you want to maintain credibility, you need to back up strong statements like this one with creditable links.

Do you know how to search? Keywords "Bush AWOL" you'll find interviews with his commanders, quotes, Texas newspaper articles, all very credible stuff, not left-wing attack BS.

OF course I know how to search......how do you think I countered D.Ray's post to you re. Patriot missiles......which you left hanging I might add?

You'l also find evidence Bush covered all this up so it wouldn't come out in 2000. Amazing cover-up artist.

The only website that looks halfway legitimate says that Bush's commander thinks he was missing. It does not appear there was solid evidence of his flaking out. That's needed to make the accusation stick.

I did the search you recommended. I found a bunch of obviously left wing sites that mostly could be described as "left-wing attack BS". A few sites that basically have little reputation one way or the other that would not be considered major news sites or reputable political sites. One game site and the following

"Bush AWOL on borders"
washtimes.com

"George W. Bush AWOL on Elian"
newsmax.com

"Bush AWOL on border security"
washtimes.com

and one that might be relevant but contains little in the way of solid evidence -

"Trail Mix: Did Bush go AWOL on Guard?"
archive.salon.com

"May 25, 2000 | George W. Bush didn't just dodge duty in Vietnam, he apparently skipped out on his stint in the National Guard as well. The Boston Globe reports a one-year gap in Bush's military records after he went to work for a political campaign in Alabama in May of 1972. Though Bush promised to continue his service while stationed in that state, there is no evidence that he ever showed up for Alabama Guard duty. "Had he reported in, I would have had some recall, and I do not," said retired Gen. William Turnipseed, who commanded the Alabama unit at the time Bush claims to have served. "I had been in Texas, done my flight training there. If we had a first lieutenant from Texas, I would have remembered." Furthermore, Texas National Guard records indicate that Bush failed to return to service there even after the Alabama campaign ended in November 1972.

Bush, however, insists that his military service is complete. The candidate told the Associated Press, "I served my full obligation with the Texas National Guard. That's why I was honorably discharged.""
