The "protesters" were trying to block supplies for the troops. As far as I'm concerned, the police should have used live ammo.

Are you learning challenged? You do know, don't you, that the law prohibits blocking entrances and exits from public and private properties? Or do you think you are entitled to make your laws as you go?

The officers used a miminal level of violence- -non-lethal munitions- -to clear the way. As JLA says, an improvement would be live ammo.
