I understand what you are saying and it is all good stuff. But in your scenario Saddam would never have been deposed, your scenario, unwittingly, keeps Saddam in power. And that's a bad thing in my opinion. France, Germany and Russia should have come along for the ride. Instead, France now, is likely to forever be despised by Iraqi's for supporting their oppressor.
