Interesting... International Arbitration?? How can arbitration be binding on a party which was not involved in writing the original contract? Saddam's government can hardly be referred to as having been "legitimate", and any post-Saddam regime, especially one that is democratically elected, should easily be able to ignore such procedures.

After all, is Putin going to invade Iraq too and overthrow a democratic regime??

Sounds impressive but general practice world wide is for the vessel owner to post a bond with the court to get the ships released.
