Iraqi jubilant in Manchester
Associated Press
Wednesday, April 9, 2003

An Iraqi refugee who runs a convenience store in Manchester, New Hampshire, says watching a statue of Saddam Hussein topple on television this morning was the happiest moment of his life.

Forty-nine-year-old Salah Flaih said he was jumping up and down. A co-worker jumped onto the counter and shouted with joy.

Flaih arrived in New Hampshire with his wife and two sons two and a half years ago.

He said it's been about ten days since he lost contact with family members in Baghdad. He said they moved out of the city to stay with friends in eastern Iraq.

He says the Iraqi people have suffered under Hussein and he knows they are happy today.
