Statue demolition was staged. Fighting a pharingytis with antibiotics -just as a precaution for the SARTS scare- I stayed home and didn't go for my usual Heineken.

The order was to demolish a Saddam statue in fornt of the cameras with the Iraqi flag pasted on top of Saddam.

US soldiers got it wrong:

When they heard: Got a flag on top of Saddam's face, they understood the US flag. Here is the story:

Switch TV on and see a camera dead on a statue. Kept watching because it was an anomaly and when you see an anomaly you discover somehting underlying. Guys hammered the pedestal to bring the statue down. An innefectual exercise which I could see how ineffective an Iraqi is a destructing something.

Then a few military vehicle sparked. No security. They weren't alert. Opa! Elmat thinks. There is somehting not quite correct in this picture.

Then CNN guy says: There's not too much people around, but you have to understand is dusk in Baghdad. Bingo! I said this is a set up!

A vehicle appears, the guys climp up there and put the US flag on the face of Saddam. "Oh this is not going to play well in the Middle East" says the CNN talking head.

"Yes" another voice says, this picture is being broadcast all over the Middle East by other Arab networks.

The voice gives it out:

"TV Al Arabyia comentator is saying that this was supposed to be the Iraqi flag"

The US guys bring down the US flag and pull up the Iraqi flag. A very bad set up!
