no, I am short AXA and I am trying to see if there is a relationship between the close of the french markets and the direction of the ADR at the close.

the answer to the french market/ADR question is "yes". It appears that the ADRs spike right at the close of the french market. It happened on ALA and AXA. ALA's rally extended a bit, but AXA gave up the gains pretty quickly.
