You're revising history. Cheney said, "Weeks, NOT months". After the war began, you said, "Months". I seem to remember you referring to the military and DOD as "incompetent" in there somewhere, as well.

Why can't you admit you made a mistake?

I didn't think it would but it wasn't an unreasonable statement. If the Iraqi army, Republican Guard, Special Republican Guard, Fedayeen, Baath party militia, ect, really had all fought to the bitter end it would have taken months.

Of course it was never likely that the regular army would be so committed but the rest might have been and some of them where.

Also the war isn't really over yet. I can't remember who said it when asked about this war but "its not the end, but its the beginning of the end" is true. Tirkit and Mosul still have to fall, and even then there will be some mopping up operations. Then of course the rebuilding begins.
