BD, most folks on SI are wise to their BS I would hope. However, there are far too many folks out there who are too impressionable & idolize celebrities. They take these folks very seriously. Just look at how easily oh so many millions of folks threw their money at stocks during the bubble & continued to do so long after the top while analysts & other unscrupulous people were still hyping equities. There are a lot of sheep in every flock. That is reality.

One additional point. One significant advantage the Hollywood elite has is that they can get a lot of free media time to flood the airways with their mantra. Folks like you & I can call a press conference, but no one will cover it. The Hollywood elite can get untold millions worth of free air/print time to push their propaganda over & over. IMVHO, that is an abuse of their celebrity for political purposes. And it is an unfair tactic since all media never allows any group an equal amount of air/print time to rebut or to express a differing POV.
