Now, now, Bull Durham was still a good movie, even if a couple of the actors turned out to be jerks. The script made the movie anyway, not the actors (although Costner was perfect).

The problem is, a lot of these anti-war people are confused as to what freedom of speech means. It doesn't mean that you can say any damn-fool thing you want to and people just have to accept it and move on. It just means the government can't stop you from saying it, and has to have a compelling reason to limit it or punish you for it. Private entities (including the Baseball Hall of Fame) can do anything they want to punish you for what you said, because that's part of their freedom of speech and association.

>>"I am sorry that you have chosen to use baseball and your position at the Hall
of Fame to make a political statement," Robbins wrote. <<

Many Americans response to that statement by Robbins would be "We are sorry that you have chosen to use your celebrity status in Hollywood to make numerous political statements criticizing Pres Bush--you are not an expert on world events, therefore we are not interested in your opinion anymore than you are interested in ours."
