Eric, They plumb new journalistic lows - reminiscent of state controlled media or politics in general. Are you talking about Fox News? What in particular? Fox News, and in fact most of the other cable news channels, have mostly commentary and interviews, unless something out of ordinary happens. It's much less expensive than having actual reporters reporting and researching stories. To do it really well, these stories can be like mini documnetaries. Anyway, commentary is much cheaper, and can deliver consistent ratings. Paradoxically, there was more news reporting in last 3 weeks than usual, so I am not sure what your complaint is.
