They began to convince themselves during the Clinton regime that the the American people were stupid (probably because Carville is from Louisianna, where so many people ARE stupid). They were proven WRONG about that in the 2002 elections, but instead, they deluded themselves into thinking that they "didn't get their message out". They got it out all too well: "It's Washington's money, and Washington will KEEP it, recession or not." They lost 2002 on that message, and whined and cried that Bush didn't get "held responsible" for the economy. Well, guess what? The Dems are buying ownership for 2004, just to stroke their base. If I were a Democrat I'd stand aside and let Bush have all the tax relief he wants: Elimination of the double-tax on dividends and the AMT tax, as well as the reduction in marginal rates. I'd claim I couldn't stop him-because he has too much influence. I'd do that, if I were a Democrat. Because, as an HONEST Democrat, I'd be convinced that the policies would drive up interest rates and create a depression SO I COULD WIN 40 HOUSE SEATS. But: I'm NOT a Democrat. And there ARE no HONEST Democrats. The Democrats won't follow the strategy above because they are LYING TO YOU. They KNOW the Clinton/Rubin economic disaster would be quickly ended, and that Bush would get credit for the resumption of the Reagan Prosperity. Reagan, you see, ALREADY BURNED THEM on that strategy. REAGAN cut taxes, and started a 20 year BOOM. And today's Democrats won't allow that to happen again-as long as they are kept close to power. In November 2004, they won't have to worry about being close to power any more. That's because they are wrong: The American people aren't stupid-only the Democrats...
