FWIW, Stratfor is reporting that the fact that nobody who discovered the radiation has gotten sick so far suggests that the radiation isn't beta or gamma, but alpha, which is characteristic of plutonium, and very pure, which is characteristic of weapons grade.
freerepublic.com

Just double checked that, and confirmed that plutonium emits alpha, which won't penetrate a sheet of paper. People who work with plutonium don't get radiation poisoning.
pu.org

One thing I remember without a link is that plutonium is generated by nuclear reactors, and every reactor's plutonium has a characteristic "signature" so if we do find plutonium in Iraq we'll know where it came from.
