The GOP is the party of deception, diversion, disinformation, special interests and dirty tricks, no doubt. The War In Iraq itself is a major diversion, for the beenfit of special interests. But the GOP spin brigade is turning it into a great self-defense victory, though if you're objective you have to wonder what we had to fear from Saddam besides an ongoing headache.

Both parties are capable of dirty tricks in politics, but the GOP have been the experts, ever since (in my memory) the Nixon era. At that time they were caught red-handed. But just a few years later they were back at it again.

It is part and parcel of their campaigns for power. Probably because they have always been a minority party they feel they HAVE to fight dirty to win. Nixon had a dirty tricks squad and now they all do. Remember Lee Atwater? And now we have the neocon media loud-mouths. You literally cannot turn on your radio without hearing them constantly attacking something mythical foes on the far left, or the middle portraying them as far left. "Liberal" is their favorite dirty word.

"Ruthless" is the word that comes to mind. But also intentionally dishonest with no shame. They will promise, attack, do and say and make happen anything they think up which might help them and destroy their opponents, and they will not stop at the bedroom door nor anyplace else. They will even make up stories, complete fiction.

At the same time, they are experts at cover-up to protect their own butts. Look at how the Enron and energy scandals story has been buried for instance. And the florida voter rolol purge. Amazing how they can frighten off the media or lead them astray. That's why any "liberal media" left is pretty much emasculated. Where are all the muckraking reporters? They are a rare breed these days.

Part of their success in cover-up is by using pre-emtive blame game attacks. Whenever they realize Bush is weak or vulnerable, they immediately attack the other side for doing something similar, even if it's not as bad or 40 years ago. Using the Limbaugh and Hannity types to spread false or exaggerated negative stories about Democrats. For instance, look how many right-wingers on these threads post about Democrats taking money from Enron. Or Robert "KKK" Byrd to get Trent Lott and the mainly white male GOP off the hook. It's the stove calling the kettle black tactic. And they say it much louder and many more times so the perception is created that the parties are somehow equal in their guilt. Amazing. But Democrats are portrayed as always 100% guilty for anything and everything. They even blame the Bush economy on Clinton. Constantly. As if that argument caould ever hold water. But say it enough times and people think maybe they're right. Bush doesn't even need to help the economy. He's immune from all domestic failures so long as he beats up third world countries. Again amazing.

That is why I am for attacking Bush very-very aggressively going into 2004. In 2000 and 2002 he got away with a lot. Can't let it happen three times in a row. Wars or no wars. And the only way you can beat a bully is to hit him in the eye with well-aimed shots.
