Approximately how many companies were actually "bubbled" ? Enough to upset the economy...I'm afraid I don't see the mechanism that swung the whole economy... How many dot coms could there have been....and none were very big...

Good post. I believe that bubble failures do coincide with natural business downturns and of course skipping market corrections does make the inevitable all the more painful.
