Personally, I hope we register a strong diplomatic protest at the Kurdish takeover of Kirkuk, and send in a few special forces troops to 'oversee' the situation (while the Kurds basically set up the government). Come to think of it, that is very well what we may be doing...serve the Turks right.

Diplomatic protest to who ? Kurds or Turks ? I was not clear on your statement. The Kurds aren't a nation, so I'm guessing thats not what u had in mind.

I don't see why the Kurds who were forced out of their homes not too long ago should not be allowed back in. What kind of a message would that send? That if you force people out then it is wrong for them to claim their homes back? Turkey is being stupid here. If they are afraid of their Kurdish uprising, then they should treat them better so the Kurds will want to stay. Even an independent Iraqi Kurdistan will have every reason to be friendly with the rest of Iraq because they are landlocked and need the rest of the country.

We can suggest that the Turks take the matter to the UN.
