All the networks report suspected WMD. The reports are usually sole sourced to an embedded print reporter travelling with a unit which has stumbled on a suspect site.

Fox has distinguished itself with its thorough coverage of all things Iraq. Unlike CNN and CBS, they had no hidden agenda in reporting their news.

I have only seen two reports about WMD sites on Fox, The one yesterday and the one about the camouflaged site, although I grant your there may be more.

Each time I saw a report from Fox or CNN (I watch both about equally), they were explicit in pointing out that findings were tentative and further analysis needed to be done. This seems like responsible journalism to me.

But there is a very critical point here which requires the reporting of such finds, as was illustrated yesterday. Fox's report on the Tuwaitha site originated from Carl Prine, an embedded reporter. The report clearly shows that this site (as were others) was not fully known to the inspectors. UNMOVIC had visited this site 4 times, but never knew of the extensive underground labs and warehouses. This from Carl's Report:

The Pentagon team also began interviewing a former nuclear physicist and engineer who recently worked at Al-Tuwaitha. The two men told the Marines they would show Coalition investigators “everything we didn't show the inspectors” from the IAEA.

Assumming for the moment that this site does not have anything illegal, it is still a very important fact to know. It illustrates how and why the inspections were failing and would never work, because of Iraqi non-cooperation.

Such knowledge is extremely news worthy.

Speaking of credibility,

When the majority of major news organizations were running stories about how the war plan wasn't working, how there were not enough troops, how Rumsfeld overrode the Pentagon, operational pause etc, etc, etc.

The analysts at Fox, specifically, Gen. Thomas McInerney, Col. David Hunt and Major Bob Bevelacqua all pointed out that these stories and opinions, were

pls excuse my exuberance.

Yes, let us talk about credibility.
