I still have my fingers crossed.

But the possibility for a credibility shattering revelation does exist. We should know within a couple weeks.

I expect that the shock of this war, and the fact that we now stand with a boot on Syria's energy neck, will be enough to influence them to keep from becoming the next Iraq. The chances of having to go to wr with them are, IMO only about 1 in 10, and diminishing with time.

If, however, we want them to reverse their previous aggressive invasion of Lebanon, that will require a war. We should feel no compunction now about making strategic assassinations anywhere in the Arab world where we see the most trouble-trouble that could lead to a new strengthening of terrorist elements in backward Islam. We should also be ready to attack, with missles or bombers, any area even suspected of being used for nuclear development.

North Korea is a different suituation. The potential rise of NK as a nuclear power threatens Japan and China far more than it threatens us. Pulling our white elephant divisions back from the frontier sends them a clear massage to get involved. Deployment and accelerating development of SDI gives us an edge in situations like this, that can only increase our influence greater than the obsolete "hostage" divisions in South Korea are capable of anymore. Bring those divisions home, and move the money we save into SDI. That's the best strategy for the new century...
