That statement has more than a passing resemblance to arrogance and an overconfidence in one's military superiority - mistakes that led to the decline of quite a few empires. Since I have no connection to the military, my "arrogance" is not relevant. However, I believe that it is a statement of fact, rather than arrogance. I would hope to avoid such a war of religions, if at all possible. I believe that the war in Iraq is part of a bigger strategy to avoid such a war. Sometimes a show of strength in the beginning can be a favor to your opponent in the bigger picture.
