I will argue the other side for a moment. Diplomats, journalists and people working for humanitarian organizations are forced to do business with despicable regimes. Every day they are forced into Faustian bargains in the forlorn hope that they will be able to do at least part of their jobs, and that they might be able to do more good by staying than by packing up and going. It's easy to criticize the bargains they make from a safe distance. I still think they deserve admiration for trying, even if I think their judgment got warped by circumstances in many cases.
