Good question.. It all depends on the agenda of the new government in Turkey, as well as some of the military leaders who may be perceiving the opportunity to exploit the chaos for Turkey's benefit.

All nations, including "allies" of the US, have interests. And those alliances are all subject to being modified by those interests. What is difficult to analyze is the thinking of some of these leaders and whether they are willing to risk confrontation with the US to achieve them.. And I think Bush would have to think twice before alienating Turkey much further. It is too strategic a nation.
