SARS: A new Fear Factor? Although the Fear Factor has risen close to January's peak, suggesting our fears of terrorism and related threats has receded to the modest levels of January, my failure to capture SARS related fears may be significant. It may well be that it doesnt matter whether the source of fear results from a deliberate human act. Naturally occurring pestilences may have an equally potent negative affect on business conditions and investor confidence. I'm planning to incorporate SARS related news into the Fear Factor beginning on Monday. At only 22% invested, I'm not too concerned re whether SARS fears keep the Market from going over 900 (S&P 500)as I've been expecting.
