Yes, there is no doubt the old Iraqi leadership went much too far in many cases to hold on to their power, and the Iraqi people as a whole should be much better off now than they were before as far as basic human rights go.

If we invade Syria now, the feeling of "Arab humiliation" will probably intensify and cause even more problems for us further on down the road.
