I agree that it may take years. And I don't think we have the patience to wait. (nor do we have the will to give them the kind of help they need, imo) I think it's funny to assume that a country that stared down Russia across the Fulda Gap for nearly 50 years until victory has no patience. We have a vital national security interest in assuring Afghanistan does not revert to a giant terrorist training camp. That will keep us there as long as is required. Derek
