Nope, I am in private practice of neurology in northern California and in process of moving practice and ranch (Friesian horses) to greener pastures, literally, to the Washington peninsula. I earned two degrees in math at Univ of Texas Austin, 1960-1966, GAWD! what a long time ago. Mathematics back then was one of teh University's shining stars and I still elicit gasps of awe when talking with mathematicians when they learn I was one of R L Moore's students. I was working on my PhD in summers in medical school but my major professor HS Wall of "Analytic Theory of Continued Fractions" fame (small audience) died of colon cancer rather quickly during my senior year in med school so I gave it up. It was just a labor of love anyway but the spark went out when he died. Wall knew Einstein at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton and worked with Johnnie von Neumann, ( he used the "Johnie" and I did not!). Heady days back then but in those days the political science departmwnt was full of "fellow travelers," and Lyndon Johnson's shadow loomed large like the shadow of Sauron across the town. His wife Ladybird owned the TV stations and everyone was terrified to cross Lyndon Johnson or his bitch wife. I worked for Barry Goldwater and nearly flunked a boring but required Texas government class, the last class standing between me and my first degree because I had the audacity to challenge the shithead about being a Johnson pawn. Moore and Wall literally themselves covered my calculus classes I was teaching for the first two months of the fall leading up to the election in 1964. They told me to get the hell out of the department and go work to get Barry elected. Alas for the my poor students when the landslide for Johnson was over they had to settle for my poor substitution for Dr Moore and Dr Wall...ancient and insignificant history Dolinar but , Nein, ich arbeite nicht um Rice Universitaet.

Addendum re Barry Goldwater: As a student in my first year of college I went to hear him talk, expecting to be one of his hecklers. Much to my surprise I came away with the understanding I had been priviliged to meet (I stumbled right into his face on the stairway out of the auditorium) a true anomaly, an honest man in politics who spoke his mind. I did not agree with him on everything, such as leaving racial problems to states for a few more years, but I knew he understood the threat of the Soviet Union better than Johnson.
There was an old joke going around in some quarters shortly after that election. "They told me if I voted for Barry Goldwater in 1964 we would have a huge escalation of the Veit Nam war...well, I did, and we did." Barry was like Geroge McGovern, his political opposite a few years later, an anomaly and hence a loser, honest and candid men in American politics. Rare breed, and they never win. And no Dolinar, I do/did not hate Johnson enough to think he had JFK killed, but I do believe Johnson did a large part of what he did with respect to the war because he was astute enough to know that were he not to do so he would have suffered Kennedy's fate. There was to my mind a huge conspiracy we will never learn of, and that it all revolved around money to made form conduction the war. I am a rifle shooter and defy anyone to do what Oswald allegedly did with the Italian Carcarno bolt action. Years later as a medical student I was doing a neuropatholgy rotation and had been turored on electron microscopic morphology of neurons being attacked by certain neurotoxins. I can say all of this without fear fro reprisals against anyone because everyone concerned but me is now dead. And I am too old and isolated to count except as an opinionated izzslu-hating crank.
I was shown the slides of a brain and asked what killed the person. Obviously it wast identical morphology to the toxic effects I had been shown previously. The source of the tissue? None other than Oswald's assassin Jack Ruby. BUY HE DIED OD CANCER DON'T YOU KNOW? I was told to tell no one for many years if ever. Dirty times, but then what times are not. So I have no shame in proclaiming Caligula's utterance, "Oderint dum metuant"...what matter if they hate (me) so long as they fear (me)...end of Sunday rambling. The market opens tomorrow and we will all have better thngs to do than skip over the ramblings of a suspicious old fart.
