There is something called "culture" and "traditions" as well as "identification" as well as
atheists belonging to a "religion" because of all of above and more.. outside USA this is
actually represents the overwhelming majority. (and goes back to late 1700s, 1800s
and early 1900s, enlightment,etc..)

Yes, Freuds ideas have mainly been adopted by US marketing, Hollywood, political campaigns
and obviously the media.
