Hello Nikita,

When you look in the dictionary under "Pandora" we find,

Class: Mythology. "The first woman, created by Hephaestus, endowed by the gods with all the graces, and treacherously presented with a box in which were confined all the evils that could trouble mankind. As the gods had anticipated, Pandora opened the box, allowing the evils to escape."

From my recollection, the story goes on to say that Pandora tried to return all the evil's to the box, but could not. Once released, they could not not be returned.

In the dictionary under "Pandora's box" the definition is;
"A source of extensive and unforeseen troubles or problems."

When a person uses the expression, "Opened Pandora's box",
they are saying that a person or persons have started an event of grave consequences which can not be stopped.
It is equal to throwing a rock down a mountain and causing a landslide.
