I have the utmost respect for anyone that serves in the military in any capacity. I would not categorize all of them as heros, but rather patriots.

If they go above and beyond they would be considred a hero. Kerry didn't go above and beyond except maybe in AS's eyes.

A three year old child would consider his father a hero for serving because his mother told him that. I would not take that away from a three year old child.

My father served in the merchant marines during ww2 transporting goods across the Atlantic to our fighting men and women. On the return trip his ship transported German POWs to Florida.

I love my dad, but he is not a hero for doing so, he is a patriot.

Agree.....but it hard to ignore how he sold out his comrades and country when he got back home....that certainly was not heroic........

The danger of letting a Kerry or his cult-followers refer to him as a hero:

Adolph Hitler was a medal-winning and wounded "hero" of the First World War.

I prefer the old Vietnam adage: "It don't MEAN NOTHIN'."...
