I don't know why the author referred to the dates he did, but certainly 1187 was after Muhammed's time. Warlords from all over the world have been calling out to Muslims to rally. So far, it's basically been ignored. I posted the link to Sidney Reilly because he was commenting on the looting at the National Museum. I thought it was an interesting outline of the local history.
