OT - since you mentioned foreign embassies, a personal interest of mine, RR didn't upgrade anything until a couple were blown up 5 years into his presidency. Then money was falling from the heavens for security after a special commission chaired by Adm. Inman, a Carter administration official but that's another story.

You guys seem to think that some administrations are virtuous and wonderful while others are deliberately stupid. What a crock. I am endlessly amazed at the power of politicians to fool so many of the people so much of the time.

They ALL do a few good things and lots of bad, stupid things. They ALL end up appointing some people who are corrupt and end up in jail. They ALL misuse power abroad and fail to act abroad when US power could be tremendously helpful. They ALL have character flaws and personal quirks and sometimes downright disgusting moral habits.

Playing selective citations in your little academic papers is pretty silly. Somalia and Bosnia are both great examples of how different parties in power can screw up obvious situations with equal ability - Bush and Clinton were equally clueless in both cases. And guess what, terrorism has been around since the 1970's (anyone remember Munich?) with just as much bipartisan responsibility as our wonderful bipartisan war on drugs.

Most days I am amazed that anyone believes in any of the horseshit the Washington PR machine cranks out, Republican or Democratic. Don't you realize it's all just an overhyped snow job? That they are all trying to play you like a cheap fiddle because "convinced voters" keep them in clover for another few years? When you say "this one's great and those other guys suck" they have just won another convert in the con game.

The people in power sure know it.
