Certainly. Libertarians - especially those seeking to develop the outwardly-marketed political platform, either for their own or others' attempts at elected office - have often sidestepped the death penalty and abortion as issues which, were the party to take a decisive stand upon them, might tear it apart.

To me, those issues aren't negotiable. Where some of my fellow libertarians have offered the same ultimatum of sorts where the invasion of Iraq was debated, I hold that calling yourself a libertarian is a stretch if you're anti-choice or pro-death penalty.
