RE: " Do you have any idea ?"

When I collected money for the Jewish National Fund in Brooklyn in the early 50's, the collection box had a map on it of what I remember to be "Palestine." I believe it was what you refer to as the "whole of Palestine." If you remember, the British "Palestine Mandate" included what is now Jordan and the areas of Palestine given to the Jews in 1948 by the UN were smaller than the 1948 ceasefire borders. It is not surprising that the borders were not considered permanent since they did not have the legitimacy of the original UN partition and the state of war with the Arabs had not ended.

RE: "Darwinian"

I think you are too pessimistic. Palestine has never been an independent Arab country. Iraq has been and will continue to be. The US will only "occupy" Iraq until it becomes stable and is on the road to independence, democracy, and peacefulness. The Iraqi people will reap the benefit of the Iraqi oil. The US has never sought an empire. Since you raise the issue of empire, consider that the primary problem with Israel is that it is on the land of the "Arab Empire." 22 Arab states and one puny Jewish state on 3 strips of unattractive land provided by the UN were unacceptable because those 3 strips were within the "Arab Empire."

Re: Actually it is more Darwinian

Indeed, but presented in an interesting way.
