Robert, Germany overran France, and Russia (USSR) overran half of Germany, which they then proceeded to hold in abject slavery for another 50 years. We bailed France out during WWI and WWII and freed the other half of Germany after WWII so that they could become the predominant economic powerhouse of Europe for the past century and perhaps the next. Due to the efforts of the USA and the winning of the Cold War eventually The other half of Germany (East Germany) and Russian itself became free of communist oppression. Aren't memories short?
