I understand your point of view and I agree that Syria is no ally for peace in the region, but other geo-political necessities will prevail for the time being.

But still...our troops will be in Iraq for a while. If Syria should proceed with provocative ventures into Iraq with the idea of trying to destabilize Iraq I wouldn't be surprised if there are some brief but harsh border incursions by the US military to remind Assad, Jr. the meaning of the term 'self-restraint'.
