I guess the troops were ordered to find more statues to pull down that were in front of strategicly placed cameras. They couldn't spare any tanks or guards to protect one of the most important museums in the world even though they said they had more than enough troops and could go anywhere in Baghdad they cared. I guess those who give the orders didn't care.

The National Museum of Iraq recorded a history of civilizations that began to flourish in the fertile plains of Mesopotamia more than 7,000 years ago. But once American troops entered Baghdad in sufficient force to topple Saddam Hussein's government last week, it took only 48 hours for the museum to be destroyed and at least 50,000 artifacts carried away by looters.
