Whoever looted that museum made off with billions. If they get away with it, it's one of the greatest ripoffs in world history. Even bigger than the Enron-Bushie phony energy crisis and the Reaganite S+L debacle. Was it organized? I wouldn't be surprised. Why DIDN'T we protect that museum having had months to prepare?

"Now who would be interested in organized looting of a world class museum?"

Not the oppressed masses of innocent Iraqi citizens. That's
for danged sure. However, Saddam loyalists would have
inside knowledge. Ah, but that makes too much sense &
wouldn't play as well with the 'Hate America First, Hate
Bush More', crowd, 'eh?

Nice article from the Left Wing Lunatic Fringe Rag, The
Guardian. NOT!

re:"Now who would be interested in organized looting of a world class museum?"

An inside job by museum staff - probably management, Baathists trying to take what they can so they can start over as millionaires...once they make it to Damascus. As soon as the U.S. started bombing, a competent staff would be placing the most valuable pieces in vaults - even if they knew they were not targeted for U.S. bombs. The "looters" than came in and stole the fixtures and furniture, probably wouldn't know the difference between a clay pot worth millions, and a pot worth cents. My guess, the good stuff was gone, before the "looting" began.
