How much credit does the anti-war crowd get for the safe recovery of all seven POWs? None. ZERO. The POWs were not tortured and murdered for one reason, and one reason only. The POWs were turned over to underlings so the Saddster's military leaders could run away as fast as their skinny little chicken legs could carry them. The ordinary Iraqi soldiers were then either scared sheetless that some Marine in a Longbow or in an M1 would blow their asses to hell WHEN they got caught, or they felt some compassion for the POWs and did not want them tortured and killed. The ONLY reason those POWs weren't tortured and murdered, the ONLY reason they are safe right now, is because the guys that were planning on torturing them and murdering them, or were ordered to do it, were absolutely sure that if they hurt those POWs, they would then for absolutely sure be caught or killed by the United States Marines. There was NO question in their minds. Therefore, the anti-war crowd gets ZERO credit for the safe recovery of the POWs, and any anti-war person that suggests otherwise is full of sheet.
