IBM is behind Linux in the X86 arena, but I'm not aware of them doing anything in the POWER/AIX arena. Sun, on the other hand, has a compatibility pack that runs on SPARC/Solaris, in addition to now having X86 machines that run Linux. In that respect, I think Sun is actually ahead of IBM in its support for Linux.

Here, from the Inquirer, is exactly what I meant: Sun doesn't appear to know its own x86-64 plans.

Let's see if they can get some of their patented private-label internal politics going and screw things up really bad. There's a lot of room to fall from $3.00.
