I lived in an Italian neighborhood. My best friends throughout the 9th grade were Italian, and their friendships defended me against the antiSemites in schools. But, even among the Italians, there were some greasy, dago traitors like Vince. My Italian friends used the words dago and wop to describe the few rotten Italians in my school. I have no doubt that among Italians, Vince (Anthony) is considered an outsider and a traitor. His family probably supported Mussolini and Hitler during WWII, against America and the Jews.
